“So It Goes”
I’ve been on a lyrical kick lately since I’ve been having trouble finding words to express myself.
This piece was inspired by the words of Billy Joel. I tend to withdraw from people when things get rough. I become silent. It is a self defense mechanism. It’s been a hard habit to break, especially over the last few years of handling my disability.
See when you become disabled, you begin to lose your independence. You have to start asking for help, which wasn’t easy for me to do ever in my lifetime. But I had to start letting my guard down. Even with my closest friends and family. Some relationships made it through, and are stronger than they’ve ever been. Some didn’t make it and I learned it is what it is. And so it goes…
